CATHERINE CHRISTER HENNIX

silent green · Haus der Berliner Festspiele · Kraftwerk Berlin
16 – 26 March 2017

In summer 2016, Kirsten Palz brought me into contact with Catherine Christer Hennix, suggesting a collaboration with the Swedish musician, poet, philosopher, mathematician and visual artist for MaerzMusik – Festival for Time Issues 2017. What followed were numerous visits at Christer’s house in Berlin during which the idea for this project was developed.

At its core “Kalam-i-nur”, a five-day sound-video-light installation at silent green, occasionally activated with live performances by The Chora(s)an Time-Court Mirage and accompanied by concerts and talks at silent green, Haus der Berliner Festspiele and Kraftwerk Berlin. In the opening concert, Hennix performed the world premiere of a new live realisation of her seminal work „The Electric Harpsichord“. In closing this ten-day portrait, ensemble Zinc & Copper played the premiere of Hennix’ “For Brass and Computer” as part of The Long Now.

A memorable experience, from our personal encounter and diving into Christer's unique sonic and spiritual world, to the installation and the performances themselves…

Thanks to Kirsten Palz for the impulse, and to Magdalena Ritter for the production management.

in a world that has already expired.
